James 4:1-3 (ESV) What causes quarrels & what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions (lusts) are at war within you? You desire & do not have, so you murder. You covet & cannot obtain, so you fight & quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask & do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions (lusts). James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. RESIST the devil, & he will flee from you. — YIELD to what God has determined necessary for our welfare in this life, & our salvation in the life to come. What does it mean To YIELD? It means to surrender, to submit, to give way, to give up or relinquish possession of! Most people would rather die than surrender, or give up! How strong is the bondage that engulfs us everyday? It is so strong that our God had to put His only son on the cross to die a gruesome death to save us! RESIST means To stand against; to withstand; to obstruct.
