All Verses from ESV. (Rich Man to Jesus) Luke 18:18-23 Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” & Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father & mother.’” & he said, “All these I have kept from my youth.” When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have & distribute to the poor, & you will have treasure in heaven; & come, follow me. When he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. — (Wealthy man to Jesus) Luke 19:2-5 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector & was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead & climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up & said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today. Luke 19:8-9 Zacchaeus stood up & said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here & now I give half of my possessions to the poor, & if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek & to save the lost.”— Notice the different responses to Jesus from the two different wealthy men! Which will you be? It is so worth pondering! Love Mel
