Covenant Theology Part 1

A covenant is a union in which two parties make binding promises to each other & work together to keep the agreements made. Our God loves covenants! From Bill — Information Borrowed from Compelling Truth & Got Questions websites. Seven specific covenants are revealed in Scripture. These seven covenants fall into three categories—conditional, unconditional, & general. With conditional covenants if the requirements are not fulfilled, the covenant is broken. Unconditional covenants will be kept regardless of the other party’s faithfulness. General covenants involve a wide range of people. The only conditional covenant mentioned in Scripture is the Mosaic Covenant which depends upon Israel’s adherence to the Law. The unconditional covenants mentioned in the Bible are the Abrahamic, Palestinian (Land), & Davidic Covenants which God promises to fulfill regardless. The general covenants mentioned are the Adamic, Noahic, & New Covenants, which apply to everyone. We will spend a few days outlining these covenants. The Adamic Covenant is general & is found in Genesis 1:26-30, 2:16-17, & Genesis 3:15. The Adamic Covenant can be thought of in two parts: the Edenic Covenant (innocence) & the Adamic Covenant (grace) (Genesis 3:16-19). The Edenic Covenant outlined man’s responsibility toward creation & God’s directive regarding the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. The Adamic Covenant included the curses pronounced against mankind for the sin of Adam & Eve, as well as God’s provision for that sin, His redemption. (Genesis 3:15). —As we learn about God’s covenants, May we become covenant keepers! Love Mel

Hebrews 11:6 Without Faith it is Impossible to Please God

Hebr 11:6 Without faith it’s impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists & that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Hebr 11:1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.  —Do you have time for faith? Put God First! Surround yourself with Good! Establish right in your life! Trust His plan! Making Him Foremost! When we focus on what is real, & sometimes we actually see it, then we truly know He is real & our faith grows all the more! There is power in faith! Faith is a gift! We can ask God for more faith! Faith shared can become a life saved! When we are filled with faith, we have the potential to be the bridge between our God & others in need! This faith of ours must be unshakable! Lives are depending on it! Have a happy & safe forth of July! Remember Freedom is worth fighting for!! Thanks to all those in uniform who do!! Love Mel
Quote: Chanda.org, “Faith – what a laden word! I am envious when I encounter someone with faith so strong and simple that nothing can shake it. For the rest of us, however, faith is a decision. And sometimes that decision is just way too difficult to make at a given moment. But to abandon it – what reason would be left for life if there is no meaning, nothing in which to believe?”

Habakkuk 2:2-3 Have a Vision

Hab 2:2-3 The Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. Joel 2:28 It shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons & your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, & your young men shall see visions. 1Cor 2:9 It is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him. —Vision – the ability to see; the ability to imagine; & the ability to dream! In 1526 William Tyndale had a vision! He believed that every person should have a copy of the scripture to read in their own language! He converted the New Testament, But was burned at the stake before he could convert the Old Testament in 1535! In 1604 King James commissioned a group of scholars to write the King James Version of the Bible! This is the one that most read today! What is your vision? What would you be willing to die for? Maybe God is speaking & no one is listening! But maybe we are not even willing to spend time reading that which is so available today! Maybe just knowing that there was a man or many men that struggled to get God’s words available, we will spend a little time pondering His words! This could open the windows of heaven so that He can pour forth more! Love Mel

Psalm 132 The Lord Will Make His Home in Jerusalem

From Bill —Psalm 132 (NKJV) For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: 14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it. 15 I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17 There I will make the horn of David grow”.  The Lord loves all of His creation and all the people of the world Equally. But He has a special role for Jerusalem in the future. One day, the Bible tells us, He will rule the world from Jerusalem for 1000 years. Rev 20 says “Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.” This is referred to as the Millenium. After that comes eternity where we will live in the New Heaven and the New Earth. Rev 21 (NIV) says: Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Those who believe in Jesus as savior with child-like faith have much to look forward to. Just keep trusting & believing. Love Mel

Numbers 11:13-15 Moses Was Frustrated and God Understood

Numbers 11:13-15 Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’ I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. If this is how you intend to treat me, just go ahead & kill me. Do me a favor & spare me this misery!” Job 3:11 Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly. 1Kings 19:1-4 Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done & how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the Gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”
Elijah was afraid & ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it & prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors. Jonah 4 God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” “It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.” — God has a divine plan! Moses, Job, Elijah, & Jonah did great things for God! They also got very frustrated when they lost their focus! God promises that ALL things are possible with Christ who strengthens us! That is the key! Don’t forget to go to Him for strength! Love Mel
