According to a legend, Hernán Cortés, the Spanish conquistador issued a rather interesting order, “Burn the Ships”, to his men as they began their conquest of the Aztec empire in 1519. He wanted his men to understand that they had no opportunity to retreat or to head back to Spain, so they had to give the fight everything.
