God was very specific about the Ark of the Covenant & How it was to be moved! —Num 4:5 When the camp setteth forward, Aaron shall come, & his sons, & they shall take down the covering veil, & cover the ark of testimony with it: Num 4:15 (KJV) When Aaron & his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, & all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall NOT TOUCH any holy thing, lest they DIE. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.— David wanted the Ark in his camp so they go to move it! When he tries to move it man’s way, it goes from joy to sorrow! —2 Sam 6:2-3 David arose & went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God,…. & they set the ark of God upon a new cart & brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: & Uzzah & Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart. 2 Sam 6:6 When they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, & took hold of it; for the oxen shook it & the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; & God smote him there for his error; & there he DIED by the ark of God. — David then goes to the scripture to find the instructions God gave for moving the ark & it was successful. — 2 Sam 6:12-15 It was told…. So David went & brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness. & it was so, that when they that BARE the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen & fatlings & David danced before the LORD with ALL his might; & David was girded with a linen ephod.
